The San Bernabé International Tournament 2024 is a leading grassroots football event in Spain that brings together more than 8,000 young players aged 7 to 18 in Cantabria. Since its launch in 2012, the competition has grown to 400 teams, including youth academies from prestigious clubs such as Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Beyond the sporting side, the tournament also acts as an economic driver, generating an estimated €5.7 million impact for the region. The organisers highlight its role in boosting local tourism, using eight different venues and attracting more than 38,000 attendees.

Estructura

The competitive structure of the San Bernabé International Tournament is run intensively over the weekend and is divided by age categories ranging from 7 to 18 years old.

The tournament follows a weekend progression system to determine the champions in each category:

  • Friday afternoon: All registered teams play their first group-stage match.
  • Saturday (morning and afternoon): Group-stage matches continue to establish the final standings within each group.
  • Sunday morning: The knockout stages begin. Depending on previous results, teams are placed into the GoldSilver, and Bronze brackets.
